The Lifupa Women’s Group is an IFAW-sponsored community engagement project in the heart of Kasungu National Park, Malawi, where talented women support themselves and their families through the sale of handcrafted goods.
In 2017, IFAW helped to establish the Lifupa Women’s Group as a viable alternative to income from poaching and illegal fishing. Alongside thoughtful upgrades to infrastructure, and in training an adaptive and dynamic ranger team, our holistic approach has encouraged an increase in tourism and refreshed appreciation for wildlife. The communities around Kasungu National Park exemplify our vision of a world where animals and people thrive together. We thank you for supporting their work and hope you’ll share in their story.
